Janice Ratica
Janice leads CB&H's Nonprofit Tax Services, overseeing all tax compliance and consulting matters that impact the Firm's tax-exempt clients. An attorney and Certified Public Accountant, Janice has more than 17 years of experience serving the taxation needs of tax-exempt organizations. She continuously monitors legislative and regulatory developments in order to keep her clients informed of the latest industry trends. As a senior member of the Education and Not-For- Profit industry groups, Janice's clients include a broad array of tax-exempt organizations including educational institutions, charitable and religious organizations as well as foundations, museums, social clubs, and trade associations. Serving a multitude of organizations, Janice has earned the reputation as a trusted advisor with the keen ability to develop valuable solutions on behalf of all clients. Specifically, Janice has significant experience assisting nonprofit organizations in tackling potential tax issues. Janice provides advice regarding obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, minimizing unrelated taxable income, structuring joint ventures and preventing excess benefit transactions. In addition, she also assists organizations during IRS audits, including full and limited scope examinations. Further, Janice counsels clients regarding various employment tax matters, including executive compensation, worker classification, and the taxation of fringe benefits. Janice received her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). Janice is the author of numerous newsletter and journal articles and is a frequent speaker at various nonprofit seminars, including the AICPA National Nonprofit Industry Conference, the Annual Meeting of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO), the Greater Washington Society of CPA's Not-for-Profit Symposium, and the Georgia Society of CPA's Nonprofit Conference.
