Eugene S. Abernathy Jr, CPA
Sander Abernathy CPA, MBA Sander Abernathy is a senior manager with the audit practice of Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP. He is responsible for monitoring current and ongoing developments in accounting and auditing rules and regulations and serves as a technical resource to the firm and its clients on complex accounting and auditing issues. Sander also provides training and written updates to our practice professionals to assist them in remaining current on relevant rules and regulations. Sander's prior experience includes ten years in the audit practice, national office and transaction services group of a Big 4 accounting firm where he dealt with issues in revenue recognition, mergers & acquisitions, consolidations, capitalization of intangible assets and software development costs, expense deferral, fair value accounting, discontinued operations and divestitures, and SEC reporting. He was previously an audit partner with a local accounting firm, where he delivered audit and non-audit services to clients in the technology, manufacturing, healthcare and service sectors. In addition to his public accounting experience, Sander has worked as a finance executive in the United States and Europe with a publicly-traded U.S. software company and a real estate valuation firm that was "going public". In those roles, he was responsible for internal and external reporting, as well as building and overseeing finance functions in Atlanta and Paris. Sander received his MBA from Emory University and his BBA in accounting from Harding University. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Georgia. He currently serves on the board of Project Open Hand; an Atlanta non-profit that delivers over 1 million nutritious meals a year to the homes of chronically ill and disabled clients. He previously participated in Junior Achievement as classroom instructor.
