Carolyn C. Riticher, CPA, CVA

Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Kentucky in 1980 and began her career as a staff auditor with Arthur Young. After moving to Atlanta, Carolyn then transitioned into private industry, working for AT&T and Hayes Microcomputer Products. After the birth of her son, she felt the need to work as an independent contractor; however, a client, Kurt Salmon Associates, soon convinced her to join them full time as corporate controller. Nine years ago, Carolyn returned to public accounting when she joined Windham Brannon, P.C. where she now serves as a shareholder. Carolyn received her CPA certificate in 1983 and her Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation in 1996. Due to recent events that have rocked the accounting profession and its image, Carolyn wants the Society and its members to explore ways to enhance their image and to return trust to the profession. "It is through volunteerism, public service, or giving back to your community that can have a direct impact for the good," she says. During this year as president, Carolyn hopes to advance the profession, its image, and its people by encouraging members to rediscover their passion for their occupation and those causes close to their hearts. As a kidney recipient four years ago, she has become aware of the great need for living donors and financial support for the high cost of prescription drugs and surgery for people needing organ transplants. Carolyn uses her influence as a CPA to promote awareness of the needs of transplant recipients. Carolyn has served her profession throughout her career. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Joint Trial Board of the AICPA. She is a past president of the GSCPA Educational Foundation, where she continues to serve on its Board. Carolyn has served as a member of the Budget and Strategic Planning Committees, chairperson of the GSCPA task force that established the Young CPAs Committee, and has been on the Board of Directors (formerly Management Committee) since 1991. As president of the DeKalb Chapter, she received the Chapter President of the Year Award. In 1997, Carolyn was awarded the Distinguished Member Award by the Society. As president of the Georgia Society of CPA's, Carolyn presides over approximately 10,500 members in public accounting, industry, government and education. She is responsible for supervising all administrative activities of the organization and is the final authority in interpreting policies of the Council and the Board of Directors. Carolyn and her husband Jim reside in Dunwoody with their son Ray.
