Brad Schafer, Ph.D., CIA
Brad Schafer, Ph.D., CIA, is an Associate Professor and Director of the Internal Audit Center in the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University. He teaches graduate level accounting information systems (AIS) and auditing. His research scholarship has won multiple “Best Paper” awards. Dr. Schafer served two terms on the GSCPA’s Educational Foundation Board, and he currently serves on the IIA Atlanta Chapter’s Advisory Board and Academic Relations Committee. In 2022, Brad received the IIA Atlanta Chapter “Excellence Through Leadership” award. The Georgia Society of CPAs awarded Brad the “2023 Outstanding Educator Award”, and in 2025 Brad received the IIA’s inaugural global “Educator Impact Award”. Brad serves on the IIA’s global Committee for Research and Education Advisors (CREA), the CIA Exam Standards Committee, the AIS Educator Journal as Associate Editor, and Editorial Board for the Journal of Accounting Education.
