Bethany Russell, CPA, CIGA

Bethany Russell, CPA, CIGA, is the Government Audit Quality Manager with the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts, where she leads the implementation of a new quality management system in alignment with updated Yellow Book requirements to strengthen audit quality across the organization. She previously served for nine years as a senior performance auditor with the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General, where she conducted audits of programs within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the United States Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Earlier in her career, she worked in private equity fund accounting and has been a licensed CPA since 2014. A graduate of the University of North Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, she also holds the Certified Internal Governmental Auditing (CIGA) designation, is currently pursuing the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential. Bethany serves on several National State Auditors Association committees, including Audit Standards and Reporting, Excellence in Accountability Awards, Peer Review, Performance Audit, and Single Audit.
