Denise A. O'Connell, CPA, MACC
Denise was born in Port Huron, Michigan, but quickly adapted to life in the south after moving to Cobb County as a pre-schooler. She was raised, married and bought her first house in Powder Springs. Never leaving Cobb, she also lived in Marietta and Acworth but settled in Kennesaw, Georgia seven years ago. Denise began her accounting career at 12 years old assisting her mother with bookkeeping. Formalizing her education, she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1993 soon followed by a Masters in Accounting both from Kennesaw State University. She joined the firm in 2002 as the Accounting Manager and became a partner with the firm in March of 2012. She now specializes in tax, accounting and general business consulting and helps individuals, business owners, small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and trusts. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA). She is currently a member of the GSCPA's Council as well as serves as chair of the Professional Ethics Committee. At the local level, she serves as a board member of the GSCPA North Atlanta Chapter and is the only member to have served as President twice in the history of the chapter (winning Chapter of the year both times). Denise is also active in her church and local community. She currently serves on the board of MUST Ministries, Inc. chairing the Audit Committee, Kennesaw State University's School of Accounting Council, president elect of North Cobb Civitan Club, and Treasurer of the Georgia District Civitan Foundation, Inc. After completing the maximum number of terms allowed for a board member of the YWCA of Northwest Georgia, she remains active as a finance committee member. She continues to volunteer and serve on various committees and projects bettering our community. Denise and her husband, Robert, enjoy spending time with their two sons currently attending Kennesaw State University and Georgia Institute of Technology. As parents of two cross county and track runners, they can't help but be involved with various physical activities. In addition to family time and running events, Denise enjoys reading, tennis, scrapbooking, traveling and playing with her two Labrador Retrievers, Maverick and Magnum.
