Galen R. Sevcik

Galen R. Sevcik, Ph.D., CPA, CMA is an associate professor in the School of Accountancy of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. Galen received his M.B.A. and doctorate degrees from the University of Minnesota. Before joining Georgia State University, he was a faculty member at the University of Arizona and a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to receiving a Ph.D., Galen worked for FMC Corporation as a financial analyst and as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Coopers & Lybrand). Galen has received numerous teaching honors and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in managerial accounting and controls. He also has conducted executive education courses for employees at many organizations including Allied Signal, IBM, Hughes Electronics, First Interstate and Scientific Atlanta. Galen's research focuses on auditor pricing and independence has been published in the leading accounting journals including, The Accounting Review, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Research, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, and Accounting, Organization and Society. He is also on a Robinson College team that has received an NSF grant for a project titled "Transfer of Information Technology to Egypt: A Process Model for Developing Countries." Galen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Management Accountants, Minnesota Society of CPAs, and the American Accounting Association.
