Michael T. McCarthy, CPA
Managing Partner Mike McCarthy joined Hancock Askew in 2004 after 13 years with Ernst & Young/Atlanta. Mike's transition from a "Big 4" firm to a regional one has been nothing but positive. "Things are much more entrepreneurial here. I can make more of a difference for my clients." The environment suits his leadership style, too. "Young accountants here can work with many different industries and directly with partners and senior managers. Expectations are high, but they can see the contribution they're making. It's not just grinding out work." Mike holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Auburn University. He has coordinated audits for SEC registrants and privately held companies, including several Fortune 1,000 companies. He has managed accounting and reporting for public equity and debt offerings, business combinations and dispositions, advised internal audit departments on plans and strategies to enhance corporate governance, and has extensive experience in SEC filings and related accounting services. Mike also coordinates Hancock Askew's Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 consulting practice. Both Mike and his wife are active in their church and have three young daughters. Mike says he enjoys a golf game now and then and has completed several marathons and triathlons although he laughs that "It's hard to find time for that kind of thing when you have three little kids."
