Member Monday: Kathryn Fletcher

Meet Mrs. Kathryn Fletcher for this week’s #membermonday.

Kathryn was born in Bogota, Colombia where her parents were serving in the peace corps. She has traveled to 47 states and is really excited about GSCPA going to Alaska next year for Annual Convention since that's left on her list to visit!

In her free time, she enjoys watching her daughter Kaelyn ride horses and watching her son Konrad play sports. Her son is 14 and is headed to high school this fall. He loves ALL sports - baseball, soccer, basketball, football, pickleball, etc.  He also loves to play games (video and board). He has a gentle soul and is a helper in all things. Her daughter has been riding horses for almost 2 years now. She loves everything about horses and dogs and I'm pretty sure will be a veterinarian in the future. She will be in 7th grade this fall and is a smart, kind young lady. She also enjoys math just like her mom! Kathryn and her husband Kris have been married for almost 20 years this September. He has been her number one supporter and is an amazing father. She is extremely blessed to be his wife.

Kathryn loves to go to concerts in her free time. She can also be known as #KoncertKathryn. She says it's a great way to get out and share life with friends and family. She is up for any kind of music.  If someone wants to go, she’s there! Music has such a unique way of expression. She loves sharing that moment of excitement and joy with her friends and family. In 2018, she attended 19 live shows (concerts, plays, etc.). Covid has put a damper on concerts, but she is looking forward to seeing Imagine Dragons with her nephew this August. She also loves the beach; she calls it her happy place! :)  Every time she sees the ocean she is reminded of God's magnificent beauty. Long walks on the beach are a great way for me to relax, reflect, and recharge.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” This quote from Winston Churchill has been a guiding principle for her personal life and professional career. Throughout her career (and adult life) she has always been involved in some kind of community or volunteer role. For many years she served in leadership positions with the Junior League and was able to participate in all sorts of community projects. Most recently she has served on several committees for the AICPA (TIC, ASB QM task force, health care expert panel). She loves working with other accounting professionals. It is so engaging to exchange ideas, achieve a greater understanding, and then share that information with other professionals.

She knew she wanted to be a CPA since the third grade. So, she jokes that it has always just been a part of who she is. The profession has been extremely rewarding. It has provided continual growth, challenging but fulfilling work, and an opportunity to create life-long relationships. She is blessed to love what she does.

Kathryn has been a member with GSCPA for 20 years. She has also served on Council, the Annual Convention task force, and has been a speaker at our Health care conference. She is also the newest member on our Board of Directors for the 2022-23 year!

We are so thankful for all that Kathryn does for The Society and all her years of service!

The Member Monday series will highlight a different GSCPA member each week. GSCPA is excited to introduce you to your fellow members and let you get to know a little more about them. Stayed tuned for the next Member Spotlight next week!
