Benjamin McKay

Benjamin McKay joined Georgia Southern University in 2007. As a member of the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development (BBRED), Mr. McKay has worked on a variety of research projects throughout South Georgia. These projects include: economic impact studies, the annual consumer confidence survey, tourism impact analysis, marketing research, and other community research projects. His research has been mentioned or featured in: The Wall Street Journal, Houston Business Chronicle, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Georgia Public Broadcasting Radio Network, Savannah Morning News, Statesboro Herald and other community newspapers. In addition, some of his research has been published in academic arenas. Before joining Georgia Southern, McKay earned two bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC). After graduation, he worked as a fellow in the Lieutenant Governor's office in Springfield, IL. As a fellow, Mr. McKay worked to develop new programs and policies in the areas of alternative energy, tele-medicine, and rural affairs. After concluding his fellowship, he returned to SIUC and earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration. After obtaining his MPA, he worked in both city government and as a manager in the private sector.
