Clarence Davis
Clarence A Davis, CPA Clarence Davis is a firm believer that life is a journey of self-discovery to be savored. From his modest roots in Harlem to his stint with the Marines (1960-1964) to his rise on Wall Street (1967-1990) he is proof that your life is what you make of it. Mr. Davis is a man with a mission... inspiring others to believe in themselves. Trading security for opportunity, he left his position as Senior Partner at Spicer & Oppenheim to start his own consulting business, Clarence A. Davis Enterprises, Inc. (1990-1998). He provided financial and organizational consulting , due diligence investigations for acquisitions and forensic accounting investigations to a wide variety of clients from financial institutions to light manufacturing industires. His major clients included Texas State Optical; VHC ltd.; Krypton Broadcasting (Jacksonville WNFT-47 and Fort Pierce WTVX-34); and Mace Sod Farm. One night during his Texas assignment as a forensic investigator, Mr. Davis though about traits which had brough him success from his previous endeavors. He created an imaginary group of teachers who would write stories espousing these traits. Thus, he became a fraud examiner by day and motivational writer by night. Those stories compiled together eventually became "Believe in Yourself, It is a journey worth taking" (2005), a motivational fiction book for teenagers. In 1998, Mr. Davis became the Chief Financial Officer American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Beginning in 2000, he served as AICPA Chief Operating Officer until his retirement in 2005. At present, he is on the board of directors, as an audit committee member, for Gabelli SRI and Global Deal Funds; Pennichuck Water Corporation, Telephone and Data Systems, Inc.; and Sonesta International Hotels Corporation. Mr. Davis obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Long Island University in 1967. He also taught at Long Island University Brooklyn Center (1974-80), New York Institute of Finance (1973-79), and Foundation for Accounting Education. He is affiliated with the New York State Society of CPAs, AICPA, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity , Accountants for Public Interest/Support Center of New York, One Hundred Black Men of Savannah, and Savannah Guardsmen. Mr. Davis recently served as Chief Executive Officer (2007-2009) of Nestor, Inc. in Providence, Rhode Island. He and his wife Ann currently reside in Savannah.
