Theresa Treadwell Scales, CPA
Theresa Treadwell Treadwell Scales is the Controller at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library. The Library supports the teaching, learning and research missions of four institutions of higher education that comprise the world’s largest consortium of historically black colleges and universities: Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College and Spelman College. The scope of Ms. Treadwell Scales responsibilities includes finance operations, accounting, audit, financial reporting and treasury. Ms. Treadwell Scales financial acumen is rooted in more than two decades of in-depth knowledge and experience in accounting and financial management across multiple industries including banking, state government, higher education and not-for-profit organizations. She became a certified public accountant in 1996 and is licensed in the state of Georgia. The majority of Ms. Treadwell Scales career has been in banking where she advanced to role of Vice President, Accounting Manager. Subsequently, she had a stint with the Georgia State Government which included serving in the inaugural State Accounting Office as Financial Reporting Manager and Georgia Student Finance Commission as Associate Vice President – Accounting/Budget. Prior to joining the AUC Woodruff Library, Ms. Treadwell Scales was the Associate Vice President in Finance and Business Services for a local private university. Originally from Missouri, Ms. Treadwell Scales is a graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, serving on the Leadership Council, Business & Industry Advisory Council and various task force committees. Additionally, Ms. Treadwell Scales was selected as the 2022 Outstanding Member in Business & Industry by the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Treadwell Scales is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her free time, she loves staying connected with family and friends, exercising, volunteering in her church and participating in charitable walks. Ms. Treadwell Scales is the extremely proud mother of two sons, Treavor and Tylor and a daughter-in-love, Brianna.
