Richard Cox
J. Richard Cox, an attorney and CPA, has a solo practice with concentration in corporate transactions, business matters, taxation controversy, and litigation support. He has been in practice for approximately 25 years. Cox lectures nationally on numerous tax topics and often serves as an expert witness in various cases involving such matters as economic loss, shareholder disputes, professional malpractice, probate, domestic cases, and business valuations. He has authored two books on litigation support services and one on IRS practice and procedure. He also often serves as a speaker in roundtable seminars with representatives of the Internal Revenue Service and the South Carolina Department of Revenue regarding various federal and state taxation issues. Cox graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in financial management and a minor in economics. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1977, where he graduated second in his class.
