Join us for our next Middle Georgia chapter meeting on Tuesday, August 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at Downtown Grill. We will have a presentation from John Kirbo, Senior Attorney at Wiggam Law in Atlanta.
The presentation will cover current IRS enforcement priorities and audit trends, followed by an in-depth look at Kwong v. United States, the Court of Federal Claims decision that found COVID-era disaster relief automatically postponed federal filing and payment deadlines through July 10, 2023 — potentially invalidating billions of dollars in penalties and interest assessed during the pandemic. With the government’s appeal to the Federal Circuit now pending and the July 10 protective claim deadline just behind us, attendees will learn what Kwong means for clients who missed that window, how Hurricane Helene and other disaster declarations extend that deadline, how to evaluate existing claims, and what to expect as the case moves through the appellate process.
The cost to attend is $30 and includes lunch and 1 hour of CPE. We hope you can join us!
