Donald W. Hunt, CPA

Donald W. Hunt, C.P.A., M.P.A. Don Hunt is a prominent consultant, author and instructor in the areas of information technology planning, web technology and software development. Mr. Hunt was recognized as one of the top ten "Trailblazers in Technology" by the international magazine Accounting Today. He was cited as an early advocate of the now very popular Windows operating system. Mr. Hunt has served on the Information Technology Executive Committee of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), as the Vice President of ITA (formerly Accountants Computer Users Technical Exchange), and as the Chairman of the Personal Computer Advisory Committee of the Georgia Society of CPAs. He also served as a member of the Industry and Consulting Practices Subcommittee and the Accounting Education Executive Committee of the AICPA. In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Hunt was presented the Distinguished Member Award by the Georgia Society of CPAs for his leadership in developing their comprehensive microcomputer education program, and the Long-Term Service Award by the same organization. He was sought out by IBM to serve as an author/consultant in the publication of IBM Corporation's award-winning book, An IBM Guide to Choosing Business Software. Mr. Hunt has written articles for PC World Magazine, Profit Magazine, The Journal of Accountancy, and other national publications. He has served on the editorial board of Accounting Technology Magazine, and The Journal of Accountancy. A graduate of Rider University with a B.Sc. in Accounting, Mr. Hunt attended Georgia State University and was awarded a Master of Professional Accountancy degree (MPA). He has served as an auditor and a senior consultant with an international public accounting firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He holds a Certificate in Personal Computer Technology from the GSCPA. Mr. Hunt was one of the first persons to earn the new AICPA Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) designation. Mr. Hunt has been honored many times for his community service work, including being selected as Rotarian of the Year for two consecutive years. Mr. Hunt also served his country for four years as a Data Processing Officer in the U. S. Navy. Consulting and training activities have taken Mr. Hunt to every area of the country and into both large and small companies in many industries. He has presented training programs for IBM Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, the American Management Association, the Small Business Administration, Georgia State University, Emory University, the American Institute of CPAs and many other business organizations. He served as a faculty member of the Ohio State University Advanced Consulting School for many years. Mr. Hunt's data base application design and development experience ranges from IMS databases on early-IBM mainframe computers to current PC-based client-server applications. He has provided application development services for prestigious companies including Coca-Cola, Intuit, SunTrust, BellSouth Corporation, and Turner Broadcasting. Mr. Hunt has served on the Adjunct Faculty of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta where he taught Accounting Control Systems.
