C. Murray Saylor, Jr. Attorney-CPA Personal Financial Specialist (AICPA board certification for CPAs) Accredited Estate Planner (National Estate Planning Council certification) Murray Saylor is a Partner in The Saylor Law Firm LLP in Midtown Atlanta. His practice concentrates on Tax Planning, Business Planning and Estate Planning. The Saylor Law Firm LLP is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Mr. Saylor has appeared on television, spoken locally and nationally and published several articles. Most recently, he represented the Georgia Society of CPAs at the Managing Your Money Conference with Clark Howard. He has also been the featured speaker at The Atlanta Bar Association section meetings and lectured at The American Association of Attorney-CPAs. He is the author of ARequired Retirement Plan Distributions Depend on Beneficiary Designations,@ Medical Practice Management, March, April, 2000. Prior to founding The Saylor Law Firm, Mr. Saylor was a partner in a Peachtree Center law firm. He was the Partner-in-charge of the Tax Department of Touche Ross in Atlanta for most of the 1980's and a founding partner of Deloitte & Touche. During most of the 1970's, he practiced public accounting as an auditor and tax advisor with Coopers and Lybrand, now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Temple Law School while working for Coopers and graduated in1978. Mr. Saylor passed the Pennsylvania bar that year, already being licensed as a CPA in that state. He earlier received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MS in Accounting from the Wharton Graduate School. Mr. Saylor is President of the American Association of Attorney-CPAs (AAA-CPAs). He is Past-Chair of the Personal Financial Planning Committee of the Georgia Society of CPAs and served as an appointed member of the S-Corporation Committee of the American Institute of CPAs. He is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the Atlanta Tax Forum, and the Fiduciary and Taxation Law Sections of the State Bar of Georgia and the Estate and Probate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. Mr. Saylor is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Mr. Saylor is active in the Atlanta community. He has served on The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Board, The Leadership Atlanta Program Executive Committee, as Treasurer of The Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and as President of Trinity School Parents= Association. He is a Board member and Past President of The University of Pennsylvania, Atlanta Alumni Association and a Board Member and Treasurer of the Georgia Chamber Players. Mr. Saylor practices law with his wife and partner, Jackie Saylor, who is Chair of the Women in Profession Committee of The Atlanta Bar Association, Chair-Elect of the Sole Practitioner/Small Firm Section of The Atlanta Bar Association, an appointed member of the Georgia Commission on Women and editor, project director and contributor to Women and The Law: A Guide to Women=s Legal Rights in Georgia. Jackie has recently been appointed by Mayor Shirley Franklin as a City of Atlanta Taxicabs and Vehicles for Hire Hearing Officer.
