Steve Pleger
Stephen S. Pleger is newly appointed as of May 1, 2010, to the position of Senior Deputy Commissioner for the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance. Within goals and priorities established by the Commissioner, his areas of responsibility include administration and oversight of the Department; development of policies and regulations; financial institution supervision; consultation with officers, directors, and representatives of financial institutions; and liaison to the Governor, Legislature, other government agencies (state and federal), and various trade groups. Prior to his current role, he had responsibility for directing examination programs for large and unique financial institutions. Mr. Pleger has five years of industry experience working in community banking. He received a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia and an MS in Finance from Georgia State University. He served in the Persian Gulf War with the United State Marine Corps.
