James R. Summer, CPA
James Summer is an executive director with Ernst & Young and has more than 24 years of experience in providing professional services to a wide variety of not-for-profit organizations. James has extensive experience in providing service to such clients as American Cancer Society, Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), Habitat for Humanity International and the Southern Territory of the Salvation Army, among others. James has extensive experience with clients having significant microfinance lending operations, split interest agreements, investment portfolios (including alternative investments) and joint cost allocation. He also has extensive experience in performing audits of federal grant recipients in accordance with the Single Audit Act of 1984 and the Single Audit Act Amendments of 1996 and the related Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidelines, and the Rules of the Auditor General. He also serves on the FASB's NFP Other Financial Information Communication Resource Project Resource Group. James has a bachelor of business administration from Emory University and is a certified public accountant in Georgia. James has served and continues to serve various not-forprofit organizations as a board member, advisory board member, finance committee member or audit committee member including: · Board of Directors - Glenn Pelham Foundation where he also serves as Treasurer. · Advisory Board - School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University · Advisory Board - Youth about Business. · Church Council, member of the designated funds committee, member of the finance committee and also serves as the Treasurer at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. · Board Member - Redeemer Foundation where he also serves as the Treasurer. · Board of Directors - H.E.R.O for Children, an Atlanta based not for profit organization, where he served as the Treasurer and is a member of the Executive, Audit and Compensation Committees from 2004-2013.
