G E. Ormiston
In 1970, after graduation from Blackburn University, Carlinville, Illinois, with a BA degree in Economics, George Ezekiel "Dev" Orminston began his 22-year career as an insurance agent in Douglasville, GA specializing in life and health insurance planning for individuals and small businesses. In 1977, he added a real estate license to his credentials. He has received numerous awards and industry honors, and has written articles for industry publications. Mid-life crisis hit early for Dev. In 1992, he entered the manufacturing field, first as production manager and then becoming plant manager of a specialty plywood manufacturer in Katy, Texas. It was time to learn the reality, rather than theory, of managing the full spectrum of a small business in America. During his tenure, the company grew roughly 300% in annual sales, with a substantially increased profit margin. Meanwhile, back in GA, Dev's five, now-grown children were having children. In 2000, Dev "retired" from manufacturing and moved to Winston, Georgia, to be closer to family. Between them, Dev and his wife, Jennifer, have eight children and eighteen grandchildren, with another on the way as of this writing. Through his volunteer work with The Pantry (a ministry-based food bank in Douglasville, GA), and with the Rapha Clinic in Temple, GA, membership in the Villa Rica Lions Club, and working with Medicare beneficiaries in planning how they receive their medical benefits, Dev became acutely aware of the importance of retirement planning. Two years ago, he began using specialized insurance contracts, developed by a small number of insurance companies to maximize the value of current tax laws related to permanent life insurance. His website is pointed to The Family Retirement Plan, and provides ex excellent resource for the concept of a tax-free retirement income.
