COVID19 News Update Regarding CPA Exam Testing, NTS Extensions and Credit Extensions.

Prometric has notified NASBA they will be closing all testing centers in the US and Canada until April 17, 2020.

This morning the Georgia State Board of Accountancy agreed with NASBA and are implementing the following changes:

  1. Notice to Schedule (NTS) Extensions -All candidates with NTS expirations between April 1 – June 30, 2020 should be extended until September 30, 2020.NASBA will do this for Georgia and any other jurisdictions that have agreed with this change.
  2. Credit Extensions –NASBA will identify all candidates who have an open NTS and credit expiring through June 30, 2020 and will grant a 90 day extension of credit if the candidate is impacted by circumstances beyond their control.NASBA will send the list of the Georgia candidates to the Georgia State Board of Accountancy so they will have the names of those potentially impacted.

With many state boards of accountancy closing, working with minimal staffing and/or starting to work from home, NASBA will be communicating with candidates on behalf of the boards regarding the test center closures, how boards will handle NTS extensions and at a minimum, let them know Boards will be reviewing cases where credit extensions may be granted.  This will help the state boards who may otherwise not be able to respond.
