Member Monday Spotlight: Darylnn Sharpe

Meet this week's #MemberMonday Spotlight, Darylnn Sharpe!

Darylnn is from Brunswick, GA. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in December of 2017. She started her career in public accounting at MST in January of 2018 and now she works for Docyt, an accounting automation software company.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hanging out with her husband, son, and their two beagles Bentley and Lilly. She also likes finding new recipes to cook and bake for her family, as well as reading and drawing.

She is currently the President of the Coastal Chapter of GSCPA and this is her third year serving as an officer. Last year she was the Vice President and the year before she was the Secretary/Treasurer. She is also on The Society's Young CPAs Advisory Council.

When she was asked why she chose the CPA professions, she said, "I changed my major three times and finally landed on accounting. My grandma always told me growing up that I would make a good CPA. I didn't even look into what a CPA meant until I was on my third major change, but my grandma's advice had always been in the back of my mind. It turns out I had enough credits from my previous two majors and AP credits from highschool to graduate early with my accounting degree. I planned it out so that I would graduate with enough credits to sit for the CPA exam and not have to go to graduate school. It turned out to be a great decision and accounting has proven to be a very rewarding profession so far. For all of those who are getting ready to take their CPA Exam, don't give up or lose momentum. All of the sacrifices made to pass the exam are so worth it in the end."

The Member Monday series will highlight a different GSCPA member every other week. GSCPA is excited to introduce you to your fellow members and let you get to know a little more about them. Stayed tuned for the next Member Spotlight!
