GSCPA Hosts the 2023 Southeastern Accounting Show

The Georgia Society of CPAs hosted the 2023 Southeastern Accounting Show on Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th, 2023 with over 500 members in attendance along with over 30 exhibitors and sponsors.

“I love SEAS, especially this year. I love the diversity of topics; I love meeting other CPAs and expanding my network. I really enjoyed the sessions by Toby Groves; Thinking Beyond Patterns and Building A Culture for High-Functioning Teams.” said attendee Faustina Brooks.

Day one, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, started with an optional morning session covering topics such as fraud risk management, followed by a panel session on the state of the accounting profession from the GSCPA perspective. Breakout sessions throughout the day covered accounting and auditing updates, federal tax updates, auditing cryptocurrency, changing legal residency and tax obligations, benefit plan legislative changes, the impact of AI on auditing, and combating burnout.

“I always enjoy SEAS, I have attended for over 20 years. I like the variety; you can mix up your A&A or Tax, and all the trending topics.  It is a nice way to network with the CPAs that I have met over the years.” said member Elizabeth Hardin.

Thursday, August 24th, 2023, began with an optional morning session discussing ethics requirements and the ERC (Employee Retention Credit). Breakout sessions covered topics such as nonprofit accounting and tax updates, tax compliance developments, finance and cash flow strategies, Microsoft 365 features and shortcuts, and top financial mistakes for retiring CPAs. The Southeastern Accounting Show concluded with roundtable discussions on accounting, auditing, tax, business, and technology.

“Our members let us know year after year that the Southeastern Accounting Show is where relationships are forged, ideas are born, and collaboration thrives. This year was no different!” said GSCPA COO Greg Wilder.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to delve into technical topics, regulatory updates, and practical advice related to their respective fields in accounting and finance. The event provided a platform for networking, engaging with sponsors and exhibitors, and staying updated on the latest developments in the accounting profession.

If you didn’t attend, we would love to have you next year! Be on the lookout for next year’s dates!
