Bruce Pounder, CMA, CFM, DipIFR (ACCA), MBA, is the Director of Professional Programs for LOSCALZO ASSOCIATES, LTD., a wholly owned subsidiary of SmartPros Ltd. He is an internationally recognized expert on corporate financial reporting, the global convergence of financial reporting standards, and ethics in the accounting profession. Bruce has presented seminars, conference sessions, and webinars to thousands of professionals around the world. Participants have come from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), each of the six largest global accounting firms, and many "Global 500" companies. Previously, Bruce worked for several global companies including IBM and Exxon. Bruce's observations on financial accounting and reporting are regularly quoted in the media. He is the author of the 2011 U.S. Master GAAP Guide (CCH) and the Convergence Guidebook for Corporate Financial Reporting (Wiley). Bruce is also the lead contributor to the FASB Learning Guide for the Codification Research System. He writes the monthly "Financial Reporting" column for Strategic Finance magazine and occasional articles for online and print publications such as the Journal of Accountancy. In addition to being a highly-regarded educator and author, Bruce has 22 years of practical experience as the Chief Financial Officer of a privately-held corporation. Over the same period, he also served as a consultant to many public corporations (including The Coca-Cola Company and Fidelity National Financial), for whom he has provided expert advice on the design, development, and implementation of financial planning and reporting systems. Bruce was the inaugural Chair of the Small Business Financial and Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and served as liaison between that committee and IMA's Financial Reporting Committee. Bruce holds a Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, an MBA from Rice University, and a Diploma in International Financial Reporting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
