TOMMY ALLEGOOD was raised in Atlanta, GA. He is a 1970 graduate of Gordon Military College and a cadet in the ROTC program. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of Georgia. Following a management career with Lowe's Companies he was a Contractor with the Resolution Trust Corporation in Florida. Presently he is a state licensed builder and developer. Mr. Allegood's varied business interests include property acquisition, development, redevelopment and restoration of historic properties. Recent projects include the restoration of The Old Mill Restaurant and development of three historic Craftsman style neighborhoods in Acworth. Allegood was elected to the Acworth city council in 2000 and was elected mayor in 2002. Recently re-elected, he began serving his third unopposed term as mayor in 2010. During his tenure the city has almost doubled in population to over 25,000 residents. With an emphasis on quality of life, Allegood has led the community in quality commercial and residential growth while maintaining a small town atmosphere. Tommy is a member of North Star Church, Acworth Business Association, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Northwest Area Council Advisory Board, Acworth Kiwanis Club, Northwest Bank and Trust Company Advisory Board, PTA Partner at McCall Primary School and Ford Elementary School, Education Partner for Barber Middle School and serves on President Dan Papp's Advisory Board at Kennesaw State University. With personal expertise in team building, developing leadership, project development and building preservation, Tommy is very active in the local community. He and wife Carol, a local artist and Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, have restored and live in a 100+ year old home in Acworth. Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.
