Robyn Crittenden
As Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR), Robyn A. Crittenden oversees the collection of taxes across the state and the application and enforcement of Georgia's tax laws. In addition to the collection of revenue, she also oversees a wide range of tasks including the regulation and enforcement of alcohol and tobacco statutes, administration of motor vehicle license registrations and titles, and review of county property tax digests. Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Crittenden DOR Commissioner on June 30th, 2021. Prior to her tenure at DOR, Commissioner Crittenden has acted as a dedicated public servant to the State of Georgia in a variety of roles. She previously served as the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), leading the state's work to strengthen Georgia families and protect vulnerable children and adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation from July 2015 to November 2018. In November 2018, then-Governor Nathan Deal appointed her as Georgia's 28th Secretary of State. By taking on the role of the Secretary of State, Commissioner Crittenden became the first African-American woman to serve as a statewide constitutional officer in the history of the State of Georgia. In January 2019, Gov. Brian Kemp reinstated Commissioner Crittenden as the DHS Commissioner. Further examples of her continued commitment to the State of Georgia include serving as?Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Georgia Student Finance Commission, where she promoted increased access?to education for Georgians beyond high school. She has also served as General Counsel at Morehouse College, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at the Georgia Student Finance Commission?and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Legal Affairs-Contracts for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.?She also was an Assistant County Attorney in DeKalb County. Crittenden has experience in the private sector where she was employed as an associate at the law firm of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan School of Law. Crittenden resides in Tucker, Georgia. She has one daughter.
