Kathy J. Redgate, CPA
Kathy J. Redgate, CPA Director of General Practice and Nonprofit Client Services As a Director in the General Practice Department of Brooks, McGinnis & Company, LLC, Kathy is responsible for the performance of audit, review, compilation and accounting service engagements. She is also responsible for providing consulting services and tax compliance services to a variety of clients. Kathy joined Brooks, McGinnis & Company, LLC in 1990 as a Manager in the General Practice Department. Kathy received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Georgia Southern University in 1982. She attained her Certified Public Accountant status in 1985 and has nearly 30 years of experience in public accounting. Kathy is from Savannah, Georgia where she began her career. Kathy's areas of experience include providing accounting, auditing, compliance and consulting services to nonprofit organizations including foundations, schools, and voluntary health and welfare organizations, as well as small to medium sized businesses, service organizations, and closely held corporations. She is also experienced in conducting audits of employee benefit plans and health care entities. In addition, she has overall responsibility for many of the Firm's engagements that include Single Audit Act (OMB A-133) requirements and HUD reporting requirements. Kathy works directly with clients to answer questions arising from day to day operations and to give clients a resource for obtaining the proper recording of difficult transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. She consults with clients on internal control matters and has assisted with the drafting of policies and procedures manuals. Kathy has received her Certificate of Educational Achievement in Nonprofit Accounting and Auditing from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kathy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA). She is a past President and long-time board member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants. She is past Chair, and a current member, of the Executive Committee of the Peer Review Committee of the GSCPA. Kathy has also been, and is currently, an active peer reviewer.
