Neil E. Harl

Neil E.Harl is Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Emeritus Professor of Economics at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa Bar. Dr. Harl served through 2004 as the Director of the Center for International Agriculture Finance. The Center conducted schools principally for Central and Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union and China. His primary areas of emphasis at Iowa State University have been agricultural law, agricultural finance, taxation, business planning, estate planning and resource economics. He received a B.S. from Iowa State University, a J.D. from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D in economics from Iowa State University. Dr. Harl served as President of the American Agricultural Economics Association and President of the American Agricultural Economics Foundation. He has been named a Fellow of the American Agricultural Economic Association. He was an organizer and first President of the American Agricultural Law Association. He has received more than 30 major awards including the the USDA Superior Service Award in 1987, the Charles A. Black Award from the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology in1997 for exemplary service in communicating with the public and the Award for Service to American and World Agriculture from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in 2006.
