Thomas Selling

Thomas Selling is the author of the Accounting Onion (www.accountingonion.com), one of the most popular weblogs providing investor-oriented commentary on current financial reporting issues that affect public companies. He has produced and led over 150 executive and professional courses on finance, U.S. accounting standards, international accounting standards and the SEC in sixteen countries. He frequently serves as an expert witness and consultant on accounting matters. Prior to joining the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1992, where Mr. Selling is now an emeritus professor, he served a one-year term as the Academic Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC). He also served on the faculties of the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, Sloan School at MIT, and the Babcock School at Wake Forest University. He has a Ph.D. in Accounting from the Ohio State University, and a B.S. and MBA from Cornell University. In the area of financial reporting, Mr. Selling has published numerous articles in academic and professional journals, including The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons and Financial Analysts' Journal. He is a co-author of the textbook International Financial Reporting and Analysis (McGraw-Hill Publishing Company), and for the past year has been a co-author of SEC Compliance: Financial Reporting and Forms, a monthly loose leaf and online service published by Thomson Reuters. Mr. Selling is also President (and a co-founder) of Grove Technologies LLC, producer of hosted web-based collaboration software marketed as GroveSite (www.grovesite.com).
