Gus Whalen is chief executive officer of Warren Featherbone Company and Chairman of Alexis PlaySafe, Inc.of Gainesville, Georgia. Warren Featherbone is a 121-year-old company that has twice been profiled by The Wall Street Journal. Most recently, the company was described as "representative of that huge mass of often overlooked businesses that give breadth and stability to the U.S. economy." Of particular interest to Gus and his company is the subject of industry partnerships and the interdependence of manufacturing industries in the United States. In 1993, The Warren Featherbone Company was featured as one of four stories profiled by Harvard Business School in their video Time-based Competition. These and other subjects are covered in three books written by Gus; the first, The Featherbone Principle: A Declaration of Interdependence was published by the Foundation in 1996 and reprinted in 2001. His second book, The Featherbone Spirit, Celebrating Life's Connections was published in 2000. The Gift of Renewal is his third book and has just been published in 2003.
