Houston D. Smith Jr, CPA, PFS MBA
Houston D. Smith, Jr., CPA/PFS Houston is a Partner Emeritus in the firm of Robins, Eskew, Smith and Jordan. Houston takes an active role inthe Georiga Society of Certified Public Accountants. He served five terms as Chairman of the Personal Financial Planning Committee and Estate and Financial Planning Section. He chaired the Sixth, Twelfth and Fifteenth Annual Personal Financial Planning Conferences for the Society. Houston also taught for GSCPA. He was honored by being the recipient of Distinguished Service Award in education for 1997 and the Distinguished Committee Chair in 2000 and 2002. He served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of GSCPA. Houston is active with the AICPA. He served on the Personal Financial Specialist Subcommittee of the AICPA (which wrote the PFS examination) and the 1998 AICPA PFP Technical Conference Subcommittee. Houston also served in the redrafting of the PFP Certificate of Educational Achievement curriculm and textbooks. He taught courses nationally in the Personal Fianncial Planning Process curriculum for hte AICPA. Houston was the keynote speaker athe AICPA sponsored conference, The CPA and the Older Client, in May 1996. He also spoke at the 1998 AICPA PFP Technical Conference. Houston is a member of the steering committee for the AICPA conference Tax Strategies for the High-Income Individual from 2003 to 2008. He also served on teh Editorial Advisory Boards for the Journal of Accountancy and The Practicing CPA. Houston served as a member of the Board of Advisors of the LINC Society of CPA Financial Planners, a nationwide organization of fee-only CPAs who provide personal financail planning. he served as Program Chairman for LINC's 1995 national convention in Atlanta as well as two terms as Vice President. He was speaker at the LINC 1997 and 1999 annual conferences. Houston is an active member of the atalnta Estate Planning Council, bweing a past President. He is also a member of the DEKalb Estate Planning Council. He was educated at Duke University, the University of Georgia (Atlanta Division) and Emory University.
