Maliece S. Whatley, CPA, CGMA
Maliece Whatley graduated from the University of Georgia in 1982 with a BBA in Accounting and 1983 with a Masters of Accountancy. She began her career on the audit staff of Coopers & Lybrand in the Atlanta office. Her clients included those in the Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Real Estate, and Service industries. In 1986 she began work as a Staff Manager at BellSouth Enterprises where her responsibilities included financial reporting, accounting research, and special projects. She has been an Instructor of Accounting at Savannah State for 11 years. She serves on the GSCPA College Outreach Task Force, and is also a member of the AICPA, IMA, IIA, and Georgia Association of Accounting Educators. She is the current chairman of the Finance Committee for Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, Treasurer of the Savannah District Transportable Housing Program, and a Board member and past Treasurer for the Savannah District Wesley Foundation. She has been married for 30 years to Tom Whatley, an attorney with Howard & Whatley. She has 2 children, Tom and Elizabeth, both UGA graduates and currently completing their Masters of Accounting.
