Slayton B. Gilmore, CPA
Slayton provides domestic and international tax consulting and compliance services to clients across many industries and at every stage of their business cycle. Slayton joined Smith + Howard in 2013 as an intern and is now a Senior Manager in our Tax Practice and a member of our Real Estate and Construction teams. Slayton’s main focus is on partnership taxation, with an emphasis on commercial and residential real estate. He helps evaluate and structure deals to optimize the owner’s/investor’s return and to minimize tax exposure. Slayton has also amassed experience in fixed asset/depreciation considerations, including tangible property regulations, qualified improvement property rules and cost segregation opportunities. Within the firm, Slayton leads Excel training across all departments and has led new hire training for busy season in the tax department for several years. With a deep interest in the real estate industry, Slayton began participating in the annual Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Real Estate Conference in 2021. As an active member of the conference’s task force, he is heavily involved in coordinating the events, speakers and topics of each year’s event. Slayton is a proud, long-time resident of Atlanta’s bustling Westside. As an avid amateur DJ, music producer and drummer in his past life, he is often found tapping, whistling or humming his way through the day.
