Lora Mirza

Lora Mirza, Associate Professor/Librarian at the Dunwoody Campus of Georgia Perimeter College, holds a BA from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, a master's degree in library science from Dominican University (formerly Rosary College) in River Forest, Illinois, and a master's in teaching Secondary English from Agnes Scott College in Decatur. Lora serves on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Library Quarterly the official publication of the Georgia Library Association and she is a frequent presenter at Georgia conferences. She is a member of the national Library Educators Group, a committee dedicated to providing teleological training for paraprofessionals within libraries nationwide. Her many memberships include the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Modem Language Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English. With Ellen Sweatt, Lora co-chaired the Dunwoody Campus Symposia 2000-2002. Lora served on the Financial Team for Georgia Perimeter College, which prepared the financial section of a college self-study for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She is active on committees within the Learning Resources division, at the Dunwoody Campus level, and college-wide. In May 2000 she received the Georgia Perimeter College 2000 Leadership Award for the Dunwoody Campus. Recently nominated for national office within the American Library Association, she will be on the ballot for the Community and Junior College Section in Spring 2003. Lora and a colleague at Brenau University are currently drafting the vision statement for the Georgia Library Association for collection development in public and academic libraries across the state. Lora Mirza is Coordinator of Public Services at the Dunwoody Campus Library and initiator and Co-Director of the Library Technology and Information Science program, an academic program being presented to the Georgia Perimeter College Senate in 2003.
