Ann H. Smith, CPA, MBA

Ann H. Smith, a Certified Public Accountant, has worked in the accounting field for over twenty years. She began her career in 1981 in the field of public accounting, working primarily with individuals and small businesses in the area of taxation and general ledger accounting services. In 1991, Smith left the practice of public accounting in order to teach accounting at Wesleyan College. As Wesleyan's only full-time accounting professor, she taught every accounting course offered by the college, from introductory to advanced accounting. She wrote the course materials for, and implemented a laboratory experience for students, in which they developed software applications utilizing their accounting coursework. While at Wesleyan, Smith was selected for Who's Who Among America's Teachers. In 1997, Smith left Wesleyan in order to open her own accounting practice. She is a business development specialist, working with small businesses who want to grow and become more profitable. She also performs traditional public accounting services such as tax planning and return preparation and small business accounting and advisory services. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Smith holds additional memberships in the Institute's Tax Division and Information Technology Division. She is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves as the leader of the Information Technology section. Smith is a member of Ran One, an international network of Certified Public Accountants who work with small to medium size businesses to make them more valuable. Professional involvement at the local level includes Downtown Macon Rotary Club, Career Women's Network, Greater Macon Women Business Owners, Central Georgia Technical College Accounting Advisory Committee, and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. Her civic activities include service as a board member of the Macon Arts Alliance. In August 1999 the Macon Arts Alliance honored her as one of three volunteers of the year. She is a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Degrees earned by Smith include an Associate of Science in Business from Young Harris College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University, and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia. She is married to Jim Smith, broker at Willingham Loan & Realty Company, Inc. and has 2 boys, a sixteen year old named J., and a thirteen year old named Nick.
