Volunteer Opportunities with the Georgia Society of CPAs

Much of the work done by the Georgia Society of CPAs is accomplished by volunteers on committees, sections, and task forces.  These "work teams" provide a great opportunity to network with other members, expand your knowledge base, and be of service to the profession.  Over 500 members currently serve in some capacity on the GSCPA Team.

Committes and Task Forces

Committees and task forces operate with specific objectives for programs and special activities during the year.

  • Operational Committees are responsible for the on-going operations of the Society, including Audit, Budget, CPE, Bylaws, Peer Review, Peer Review Executive and Professional Ethic committees.  Members for these committees are appointed by the President-Elect of the Society along with input from the current chair and vice chair of the committee.
  • Outreach Committees are responsible for implementing programs, events and activities of the Society, including Accounting Career Awareness, Minority Issues, and Young CPAs.
  • Task Forces plan one or two specific events within the course of a year, and only meet when and if needed.

Sections

Sections are member communities that offer peer networking, information resources centered on specific areas of practice or expertise, and educational programs and other events.  Online resources allow members to overcome time and distance barriers for accessing information, services, and communication with peers in specific interest areas.  Several of the Sections are responsible for implementing conferences that target members with an interest in a specific area.

Committee selection occurs around June 1 of each year.

Committee selections for the 2008-2009 year have been made. Please check back in January 2009 for next year's volunteer opportunities.
