GSCPA Member Interest Sections
Looking for new ideas in your professional practice area? Interested in finding out what is working and not working with others in a similar practice area? Want to build a network of people who face the same challenges and opportunities as you do every day? Then it is time to sign up for one or more of the Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) member interest sections.
Member interest sections give members the opportunity to participate with CPAs who share like interests in a common practice area without regard to time and distance barriers. Sections are member communities that exist online and in a peer to peer environment. As a section member, you’ll benefit from in-depth information in your specialty areas and the opportunity to network with others who share your interests. Additional benefits include:

Section membership is complimentary with your Society membership.
How many can I join?
GSCPA members may belong to as many sections as they choose.
What is the time requirement?
There is no time requirement. Members can get as involved as they want or utilize sections as a resource.
The Assurance Services Section is for members involved in auditing and assurance services. This Section works to address a wide variety of current issues facing the accounting profession while improving the skills and broadening the expertise of accountants who perform assurance services. The Section provides opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the annual Spring Government Workshop, the Accounting Institute, Governmental A & A Conference, and other educational programming.

For members involved in all areas of industry. This Section serves as a resource for members who serve in many different capacities such as CFOs, CEOs, consultants, and industry CPAs. The group communicates the value of the CPA in the business community and offers numerous opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the Spring Decision Makers and Fall Decision Makers conferences, Lunch and Learn series, and other events held throughout the year.

For members who have an interest in estate, gift and trust taxation, planning, and administration. This Section provides opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the Annual Estate Planning Conference, an annual meeting with the IRS Estate and Gift Tax Division, and other educational programming. In addition, the Section actively monitors new developments in this practice area and works to ensure members are aware of any changes.

For members working in, consulting for, and auditors of, the healthcare industry. This Section studies the evolving needs and issues in healthcare, promotes effective continuing education, and develops programs to assist practitioners in serving this industry. In addition, the group is a resource for accurate and appropriate financial reporting for healthcare entities, and also sponsors an annual conference.

This Section provides numerous opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, such as the popular MAP Roundtables sponsored in partnership with chapters throughout the state and additional programming throughout the year. The group is a resource to partners of local firms in Georgia in the areas of practice administration, compliance, and improving the efficiency and quality of local firm processes.

For members who work in, are auditors of, or consultants to, the real estate industry. This Section publicizes and promotes the role of CPAs as consultants to the industry through cooperative liaison with other real estate organizations. The group also provides numerous opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction including the annual Real Estate Conference, Real Estate Roundtable Series, discussion groups, and an annual kick-off meeting.

For members active in all areas of taxation. This Section maintains a program of cooperation with the Georgia Department of Revenue, the IRS, and the Federal Tax Committee of the AICPA. The group submits recommendations for changes in tax laws and keeps the membership informed of significant tax changes and their implications. The Section provides numerous opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the Atlanta and Savannah Tax Forums, an annual survey on federal and state tax issues, and regular meetings with the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue.

For members who have an interest in business valuation and litigation advisory services. This Section conducts educational meetings throughout the year, monitors developments in valuation and litigation, and assists the membership with their knowledge and understanding of these areas. In addition, the group conducts regular roundtable discussions with topical experts on varying issues affecting this area of expertise.

This Section is for members who are 35-years-old or younger or who are recently licensed CPAs. This Section serves as a resource for members who are interested in professional development, preserving a work/life balance and networking with peers. The group offers numerous opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the Business Breakfasts Series, quarterly networking events in conjunction with other young professionals groups, a summer softball league and other events held throughout the year.
