IRS Announces New Chinese, Korean, Russian and Vietnamese Tax Glossaries to Assist Taxpayers - The IRS announced the availability of five new publications to help foreign-language communities understand federal tax forms and publications that are written in English. These new glossaries of tax terminology will help meet increased demand for tax-related resources in languages other than English. IRS Warns of E-mail Scam Soliciting Donations to California Wildfire Victims - The IRS warns taxpayers to be on the lookout for a new e-mail scam that appears to be a solicitation from the IRS and the U.S. government for charitable contributions to victims of the recent Southern California wildfires. In an effort to appear legitimate, the bogus e-mails include text from an actual speech about the wildfires by a member of the California Assembly. |
| Proseperity Campaign Assistance - Help Those Less Fortunate |
| The Financial Literacy Committee of the GSCPA is in need of volunteers to assist with completing tax forms for low-income individuals and families. Assistance with the Atlanta Prosperity Campaign will take place Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Goodwill Headquarters on Buford Highway. | AICPA Supply and Demand Survey |
| Every year, the AICPA gathers data on the current status of the nation’s accounting enrollments, and the profession’s recruitment efforts. The goal for the study is to assess the influx of students in accounting curricula, monitor their graduation rates, and track their progression into the accounting profession. The AICPA recently distributed survey questionnaires to colleges, universities, and select public accounting firms requesting student and employment information. If your organization was asked to participate, please respond as thoroughly and promptly as possible.
