About the Assurance Services Section

Related activities

The Assurance Services Section was founded in 2002 and works to address a wide variety of current issues facing the accounting profession, while improving the skills and broadening the expertise of accountants who perform assurance services. The section provides opportunities for networking, learning, and interaction, including the annual Spring Government Workshop, the Accounting Institute, Governmental A&A Conference, and other educational programming. In addition, members have access to this web site with news and content, a section directory, links to online tools and resources, and opportunities to communicate electronically. Finally, the section actively monitors new developments in the industry and formulates programming and procedures to properly address them.

This group's activities and programming are monitored and put into motion by the Assurance Services Section Leadership Team. If you have any suggestions on programs or content, please feel free to contact one of the below individual's or the GSCPA Staff Liaison (Don Cook, Sections Manager, 404-504-2935).

Conferences

The section offers three full-day conferences with topics ranging from governmental issues to risk assessment standards and other accounting topics.

The GSCPA is always looking for volunteers to help plan its' conferences. The GSCPA relies on input from volunteers to make its programs relevant to the changing needs of its' membership. If you would like to participate in the planning of any events, contact Lynne Carr at lcarr@gscpa.org, 404-504-2945 or 800-330-8889 ext. 2945.

These task forces typically meet over lunch for about two hours, and have two to three planning meetings as well as one wrap-up meeting after the event. The option to teleconference is available for each meeting. If you have previously served on this task force and would like to continue, you must volunteer each year.
